As I was taking the girls to school today, one of my most favorite houses in town was having a rummage. I had to stop. WOW she had some great items, should have bought the dresser with mirror, it was gorgeous, only $25, but I opted for the following....

Table is perfect as is, I want to pair it with the chair I am refinishing, perfect size and everything. $10.

The Christmas Tree thingy $1, I do believe is originally for cards, but I turned the wires and will be using it for cupcakes. Yea! $1. Birdcage $1

This bowl was .50, it is absolutely gorgeous, no clues what to do with it, but for .50 I will find something.

this will either be on my bedside table or kitchen counter.....

I love roosters, not the real ones, only the art ones, I saw this little measuring spoon holder and knew it was mine, $1.

How cool is this little chair? I don't think I will be doing anything to it, but cleaning it up.

my computer is shot. :( Using the kids computer. Is it wrong to want MINE back, with MY stuff, MY backgrounds, MY settings???? Oh well so many other things could be wrong so I thank the Lord for my blessings.

On to some of my projects....

First up a Gentleman's Bureau, sounds fancy doesn't it? I was in need of a cabinet the could hold all my baking items, large tins and trays especially. I have a few 24 cupcake tins that had no place to hide, this Gentleman's Bureau was perfect, it almost matched my dining table, drawers very deep and wide, so it only needed a little touch up. I paint some of it black, sides and front doors and large draweres, left the original along the sides and top. I LOVE IT!! Here is the after...

The next item was/is a buffet. It was so cutely decorated, some mommy spent a long time with this one, but, although I thought it was cute before, it did not go with furniture in dining area and family room, so I painted it red, then black. This holds my baking pans as well. Oh did I mention, I got both items for an additional discount if I took both pieces right away. Apparently the thrift store just got a load of new furniture and the owner had no space. Good deal for me!!

And After.....

The red you see is actually my loveseat, I painted this in the garage and when I moved it into the direct sunlight I noticed I missed a few spots, hence the towel and paint can...ooops.

This chair is my best deal, $15, I have plans that include some images for the Graphics Fairy...can't wait to get on to this one, but until then, here is the before...

This project will have to wait until next week or the end of June I am very busy at OneBakedBroad with birthday cakes, cupcakes and graduation cupcakes, cookies and cupcake displays for the middle school 8th grade graduation.

Re-do on a Re-do....

I was at the local grocery store yesterday and I saw these fun dragonfly napkins, exact green as the paint I used to redo my candle holder. I carefully pried the plate off and got out the good ol' modgepodge and added the napkin to the bottom of the plate. I liked it so much, I decided to do an Easter Egg plate. I just need to finish painting the candle holder for it.

I love this stamp set, but then again I am very obsessed with Italy lately, so... I used StazOn Inks Blazing Red, Saddle Brown, Timber Brown and Jet Black. I adhered felt to the back.

Candlesticks

I found some icky brown candle sticks at Goodwill about a week ago, envisioned them in this blue, then found blue glass plates, knew for sure must have, so I painted them and adhered them together. Forgot to take a picture of the brown, but trust me they were icky. The green was black and rusty colored, looks soo much better green.

This bottle I purchased at Hobby Lobby for Christmas used for some decorating I did on top of my computer cabinet. I never put it away, now I think I will leave it out. :)

Not sure if this is the place I want this, but for now, it works.

tattered books, tin for embellishments, lovely clothespins, small version of the cherub shelf I found at Goodwill and a ballerina girl picture.

This ballerina looks EXACTLY like my middle daughter when she was 4 in her pink tutu. I saw it and knew I must have it no matter the cost. Looked on the back, it has the original price from a store my grandma use to talk about all the time, Schusters. SOLD!! I am not touching it, just hanging it up in my bedroom as is. LOVE IT!! Well worth the $11. :) <3

My church holds a weekly fish fry during the Lenten season and asks for desserts, I couldn't pass up the oppurtunity to give the ideas I saw in What's New, Cupcake?a try, check it out, SUPER cute, SUPER easy. I used my own double chocolate recipe. SO cute, or at least I think so.

And yes, I did keep one cupcake to share with my family, they never seem to get any of the treats I make for others, heavy sigh. It was so easy, I could make them their own, if they were SUPER nice to me....bwa ha ha....

Field Trip

My son went on a field trip for his art class to a local print shop. They were asked to bring flowers, leaves and the such. I have a ton of silk and paper flowers, so he had an easy time of finding something. Well, anywho, these are the items they made with the printing presses. I think they are VERY cool and can't wait to put them together and hang them up. Will post that later.

Nichelle at Vintage Wanna Bee posted awhile back a chalkboard mug, I thought it was very cute. I also thought how cute it would be to have something dripping from the top, sooooo I made my own. Mug was a $.49 find at Goodwill, the paint I already had and the drippins are from a Martha Stewart punch, I used the punched out pieces for my stencil, attached with glue dots and dabbed away with white stencil paint.

now who to give it to, I did spray a sealer on the dripping part, think that will poison someone??? I hope not, I would be a cute pencil holder too.... Can I just say I LOVE THOSE OLD ICE SKATES!!!!!

I love this jug, loved it empty and plain, now really love it modge podged out. Prints from the Graphics Fairy, newsprint paper from SU. Well, anywho, I was placing it in the downstairs bathroom and my son says to me, that looks like winter, not spring or summer. Heavy sigh...Now I have to store it until fall...or...I guess I could find something springy, maybe tulips????? Ugh! Well anywho, here is the before....

my best friend found a ton of these bottles under her front porch, why they were there, no one knows, but they are cool. Even cooler she gave me 2. :)

I like it, here's hoping I can find something lying around that is springy, cuz all this stuff I had and the bottle was free, so .... pretty darn cheap makeover if I do say myself.

Was this one, linda at coastalcharm, she is having Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays and a give away, I love the bag. Love her kitchen table, can't wait to see it dark orange. Anywho, go check it out. I made a paper wreath a bit ago, I love it, it is in my front hallway where I can see it everyday, it was super easy, used 3 items, glue gun, old reader book and a straw wreath I had taken up space in the basement. I thought it fit the bill for a thrifty project since I believe it cost one glue stick, .49 for the book and who knows on the wreath I bought it so long ago, probable a sale or something, ya know, "oh it's on sale big time, need to get one or 5, I'll do something with it sooner or later" teehee. Check out the little button to the right, cute huh? This should help me to remember when Tuesday is, right? ;)

Notebook/Calendar

I have recently noticed that my mother has no purse calendar or notebook. When she needs to write somthing down, she finds an old receipt or tissue or something that really shouldn't be used for a note. So, yesterday I decided to make her one, the book was clearanced at Walmart for 40 cents and I had all the items at home ready to use. I hope she likes it AND uses it. Papers and buttons are from SU, ribbon, no clue. Stamp set from CTMH.

Saturday night was girls night and after a fantastic time at a friends house playing Train Dominos (way fun), eating fantastic onion soup and fresh salad, we came home and gave ourselves "facials". We looked like zombies. As we waited for our mask to dry, got to talking about feet and toes. So what better than to take some pictures of the bottoms of our feet. It was a great evening with my daughters, mom, and sister.

I am not sure how I feel about this wall, I am liking it most of the time, then sometimes not so much. But I do know I LOVE that little cherub shelf. I found some cute items to place on the shelf at Michaels, 50% off so what the heck right??? The hooks my husband found at my dads house in the basement and the 2 gold framed pics have been in my family forever, never liked them until now. Funny how that happens.

I have plans to make the candle holder into a jewelry hanger for my daughter, the clock I will be covering in paper, mug I want to make a chalkboard mug (thanks - vintagewannabee for idea), glass plates photo hanger, bowl and seashell candle shade touched up for a gift, wire basket cuz I liked it and the envelopes were from cards 32 in a box for a $1. 128 envelopes for a buck not so bad....

these canvas bags I found at Hobby Lobby($1), big enough for a cell phone, set of keys, license and money. My middle daughter dances and these are gifts for the high school coaches.

I am completely ignorant when it comes to designer labels, designers and what designer things cost. As I was preparing my new summer bag I noticed a DK on the front of the the bag. Who is that I ask? NO CLUE. I check inside, I see a label that says Donna Karan, still no clue. So I call my friend who I swear knows every designer, what they design, what's real, what's fake, how much, get the picture?, she knows designers. I tell her what is on my purse. I explain in detail, she says it could cost up to $300. I then asked would that be with or without the strap? See, cuz I cut that WAY too tiny strap off, I have plans to add a much longer, brighter one. She laughed and told me "well now you have an expensive bag worth nothing", then added, "only you, only you". Sooooooo I had this very expensive designer bag that I purchased for $4.99, added a belt .99, some SU brads, handmade flowers from only jeans, cream tulle, pink silk and some brown softy stuff. So, it's now worth about $6. Yea me. Oh well, I love it, it is very soft and cannot wait to use it for my summer purse. Here it is....

First up some treats for my daughters to hand out to friends. The 3 that do not have candy are for MY friends. Something healthy. :)

These next items stemmed from my husband wanting to take some of the treats to work as an ornament. They are having a contest for the best/original Valentine ornament. I thought a tag was a bit differant. Winner gets a gift certificate to Boston Store. Why does he not tell me these things right away, not one day before the deadline??? I am pretty sure he knows I LOVE to do things like this....heavy sigh. I am not sure which one I want him to submit.

I have had the pleasure of friending a wonderful woman, Marge. I met her when I worked as an Activity Director at a local assisted living home. She has since moved elsewhere, I no longer work for the home, but we have managed to get back in touch. I made this little shadow box and card for her. The butterfly is all sparkly and glitter. The black belt was from an old barrette I found, the buckle came off an old belt my girls tossed, the letter M was a purchase months ago, a bunch of these plastic billboard letters, about 100 for $1. :) Box frame purchase from IKEA, sale 3 for $5 if I remember. It looks dusty, but it isn't I have no idea, maybe its the light from the window? Sorry, hope she likes and as always - TFL!

I am currently attempting to slim down my playroom. This is proving to be quite difficult. What is it, I just can't seem to rid myself of paper scraps, pieces of ribbon, cardboard pieces and the like.... heavy sigh. Well, I am off to assemble my second IKEA shelving unit. I swore to myself that once I purchased these shelves I would thin things down, but I am not sure just how to do it. Maybe it will come to me today as I start putting things back. Well I was able to get in one more paper craft done for 2010 and one last cookie creation as well. The clipboard was a gift for my sister-in-law for Christmas, the cookies for a friend who wanted to thank the employees at the home where her brother-in-law resides. I hope they liked them. TFL.

and here are the finished pieces. A good friend of mine asked me to make some wall hangings for some of her friends, we had found the postcards in New York the beginning of the month. The 2 without postcards, we found those sayings at a local store on some items, she wanted to buy, but I told her NO WAY I could make some for lots less and better. I hope she likes them, you too. I am soooooooo far behind this year, it is sick. But, in light of it all, we had some time for some fun.

Little bit of Decorating...

I found these items at Hobby Lobby and fell immediately in love with them , changed the whole decorating plan, oh well... My mantel needed some height on the one side and I had the red flowers from last year, so I decided to change the purpose of the candle holder. Not too bad, especially since all items were 50% off and then some.

Again items from Hobby Lobby and thrift store. I have had the black spindles for some time, but I forget where I purchased them, hmmmm....

After finding the Santa, I knew I had to change my wreath, found the red items at...wait for it... Hobby Lobby. I love that store. Berries, Butterflies, Birds and Bangels, all red and sparkly.

Candles I wanted from Pottery Barn, but realized I had a musical stamp from SU so I made my own. Little glass tree I just picked up from my trip to NYC for my mom's birthday. MAN was that a fun 4 days.

How can we not when we had this much food for just 7 people. It's just not right. And to think, my kids were actually saying after Thursday, there is NO food in this house. Really???!! Well, enough of the piggy-piggy and on to my lastest "makeover" with one of my thrift store finds.

My wonderful neighbor invited us over to their house to watch the Packer game (results NOT good grrrr special teams grrrr) and since I did not have time to make a treat to take over, I took my metal star "purse" like thing, added some flowers I made a few days ago and stuffed it full of the yummy butter peppermints. I LOVE those, melt in your mouth...mmmm. She loved it. Yea! Thanks for looking and God Bless.

Black Friday....

is a day I NEVER go out into the world. Too many people, it's scary. Just saying. Although, I was up at 4:30 this morning, not to shop mind you, but to clean up my Ziggy's puke. I do believe the dog had too much to eat like the rest of us.

Soooo, today I either lay around and "work" off my turkey hangover or begin Christmas decorating, which would be a first for me, not Christmas decorating, but Christmas decorating this early. I just do not know what to do, it's sunny, but very cold, the fireplace is a roarin. Maybe another cup of coffee would help in the decision making process.....

Well, anyhow, I do have my lamp done from my thrift store finds. I like it, even tho' it is very poofy, I really do like it. I couldn't decide if I wanted to keep the reddish beads, but it was decided fo rme when I realized I cut the wrong length for my other lamps that I also madeover. Mistakes happen, and often those mistakes are better than the original idea. Or so I like to say. So here it is....

Tho' not much of one, I like it however, simple and sparkly. I noticed the gemmy lampshade fit perfectly onto the mason jar I purchased at the thrift store, I had a tall white candle I almost threw away last week (whew), fit perfectly. The drippy wax looks pretty cool at the bottom of the jar, if I do say so myself. It currently sits on my kitchen window sill. Now off to do layer number 3 on my lamps...have a great day and thanks for stopping.

I love cupcakes, I love making them, I love eating them, I love giving them away. My middle schoolers were having a book sale, I found this book, "What's New, Cupcake?", by Karen Tack & Alan Richardson. I new immediately I needed that in my collection of cake and cupcake books. If for no other reason but for these turkey cupcakes. They make me laugh. They even taste good. : D I made a homemade gingerbread cupcake, used buttercream frosting, caramels, Special K, Grape Nuts and pretzels. I can't stop laughing, they are too damn cute.

I am a horrible shopper, or shall I say, "hello, my name is Kim and I am a complusive shopper." So for my first thrift store trip today, I acted as if it was just like the grocery store. If I do not have a list I see items and think of recipes I could make and end up with tons of food, a ridiculous bill and nothing that actually completes a meal. So every week I go with a menu and a list for 5-6 meals (I have to plan for those days we just want popcorn, or leftovers :) ). This has allowed me to make ALL sorts of recipes, get the normal essentials and remain within budget. SOOOOO, I thought I should treat the thrift store just like the grocery store. I had my list, my cash(no credit or debit allowed) and headed to the local thrift store, well not so local, but local enough. Not only was it fun, but very productive. I found just about everything I was hoping I would, and some things I did not have on my list, but fit in the budget. I even put 4 items back. Hopefully, they will still be there in a few weeks, or days, or hours...NO must pace myself. Okay, where was I, yes, list, if I did not have that list I think I would have spent 3 times as much. Just like the grocery store I saw items I thought were very cool and would make something even cooler, but not knowing exactly what, I placed them back on the shelf. So, this is what I found...consider this the BEFORE picture.

I have some ideas for Christmas, my bathroom, my bedroom, my family room and kitchen. Thanks for looking, I must go now to find a place to put my treasures. At least until tomorrow when my husband goes back to work. ; D

I found some of the neatest blogs (will list tomorrow, I be tiiiiired) with some very fun shabby inspirations. I LOVE the frayed flowers, so I made a bunch. My husband asked what they were all for and when my response was "not sure as of yet" he rolled his eyes and turned back to the t.v. (men...) Anywho.... I do have plans for 3 of the flowers, the pink with white sparkly flowers, the others, I'm still thinkin.

The candles I saw in the Pottery Barn catalog, I WANT to live in there, but with my financial funds currently at 0, I thought of another way to get them. I used the paper tissue transfer, used a roller stamp I have from SU and used the distressed ink Vintage Photo. I need to find more pillar candles, I have some other places I want these and I really like how they turned out. (Sorry PB, not today. I still want to live in your catalog tho'.)

The garland I also saw on one of the fun new sites I found, but realized AGAIN I cannot afford them, so I found some green, burgandy "vintage" material and a string of 100 lights. I cut my pieces at 1.5 inches and about 6 inches long and began tying. I started last night, but finished while I waited for my girls to complete their religion class today. I LOVE IT. I normally do not start to decorate for Christmas until St. Nick's, but I JUST had to hang the garland and there it will stay until January. I might even make an everyday one to go in my newly decorated bedroom (more on that later...)

So, my friend and I were at a local store that we LOVE, it has many quirky sayings, fun wall hangings and seasonal items galore the other day and we again found some things we needed to have of our own. BUT...the items in the store, well, as cute as they were, were WAY out of our budget. So, we got busy in the playroom and came up with these. The "seriously" board is something we find saying quite often around our children and my friend and her husband LOVE wine so she had to have the "dinner poured". The items at the store were stenciled on a block of wood and that was it, these are NOT stenciled on a block of wood. I hope you enjoy.

First and second, a baby boy and a baby girl card, idea from Teresa Black, loved the ribbon and glitter.

Next some fall cards, the leaf card I got the idea from a CTMH consultant that I have totally forgotten her name, so sorry, her card was BEE U TI FULL!!! I lifted the wreath part....

and then I had a few minutes while waiting for something to dry and quick made this card, sad thing is, my stamp ripped as I was tearing it from the block, that has never happened, I was bummed. BUT, I was able to fix it and it works as good as new....whew...

And finally...I am now working on a little project for my sister's workplace, shhh, I don't want to jinx it, but they may use it in the store....or at least let me show it in the store, but we shall see... so only a peek today...

We will create a full year scrapbook (24 pages), create some fun holiday items, and I will show you how to make your very own greeting cards.

Classes will be held at my home, 2 times a month. All supplies will be provided, except adhesive.

If you want me to purchase your adhesive, I will do that and keep it with your folder to be used at each class, this will be an additional charge.

One fee paid in full at first class -

$60 will get you all the papers for 24 pages (2 per month), embellishments, page protectors, use of inks, punches, tools, and stamps. And any items we may use for cards and holiday items.

Tye-Dyed Feet???

Haven't a clue how this happened, but it did. Kids tie-dyed (or is is tye-dyed?) bed sheets and ended up with tye-dyed (tie-dyed) feet. :) They each did a pillow case, fitted and flat sheet for each of their beds. Sheets turned out cute, no pics, but they did a nice job.

I work at a wonderful assisted living home, the residents are AWESOME!! I help out in the kitchen and my favorite, activities. :) Friday mornings we play BINGO. Usually I purchase some simple prizes, but today, I have no cash (SCREAM!!!!) soooo I made some prizes. I hope they like them, they were fun to make. I have 3 plastic picture frames, 1 large picture frame, 3 bookmarks, 1 beaded bracelet, 1 post-it holder and a set of 6 tiny thank you notes. I personally like the large picture frame and the purple bookmark. Think they will like the prizes??? - Hope so. As always tfl!!

My good friend and I went to a few boutiques last week and found some VERY cute items, 2 of the items made us tinkle. They were 4x4 canvas "frames" with decoupaged sayings, first was "Worship Me and Everything will be Fine", the second was "I am fairly certain given a cape and a nice tiara I could rule the world". We laughed so hard my kids scattered like cockroaches away from us. We HAD to have these in our homes, til we turned them over and saw the price tag! EEEK!!! $22.50! YES $22.50 for a 4x4 flat piece of 'art'. I immediately told my friend that we were NOT purchasing them, I would make something, even better. She doubted me, but I assured her it would be worth the wait. Well, this is what I came up with, these went home with her, mine I still need to make. These are 6x8, everything I had in my playroom, 'cept the animal pattern, I needed something that screamed DIVA!!
But how fun! Had a blast making them too. Enjoy and TFL!!!

Sometimes I just can't help to take pictures of the food we eat, it's gorgeous, the textures, the colors, the smells, if only pictures had "smell", this is what we had for dinner tonight, grilled plums, red onions and chicken thighes. The chicken was marinated in lingeberry jam, oil, soy sauce and rice vinegar, then the sauce was boiled and reduced a bit and used as a baste. OMG!! It was soooooo good. I did get the recipe from one of my favorite cooks, Rachael Ray, love her quick fresh foods, too perky sometimes, but her meals are great. Her recipe called for apricot jam, I did not have apricot jam and just like a mistake I may make on a craft project, I step back and punt, usually the mistake is better than the original idea. In this case, I have no idea what the original idea tastes like, but the lingenberry was EXCELLANT!!!

Random Stamped Background Paper

I random stamped the paper while watching some show I wasn't completed interested in, using all CTMH stamps, then when I was at my dads, while he was resting, I made the cards. I wanted to try the resist method, but when I was stamping the background paper I realized my heater was at my dads, I tried a hair dryer, but it just wasn't hot enough to melt my powder, so, I just continued on random stamping. I sponged lightly after stamping. I will try the resist later, probably next week when I am back at my dads. :) Hope you like and as always, thanks for looking. Now go get inky!!

CTMH Clear Cards

I FINALLY was able to put together something using CTMH's new Clear Cards. One a thank you card for my neighbor who has been SO kind in providing us with meals, with me gone to my Dad's most of the week, this sure does come in handy. The second a mini album I created using the Clear Cards, I just cut them in half and attached with a ring. Paper used for the album is the Cherry-O. ALL items are from CTMH, except the pink ribbon, that is SU. I actually made these while at my dad's, I took some supplies up to fill some of my time and I am glad I did. It feels good to get back to "playing". TFL!

Another Grad card and a bookmark

I knew these graduation parties were coming up, yet I thought I had plenty of time, then, it's two hours prior to party and I have no card and haven't showered. Will I ever learn? Here are the items I came up with. TFL.

I used all scraps and the accessories for the tag and word congrats on card are from the Tim Holtz products, grungeboard. This stuff is fun. I embossed the wings and used crackle for the skull. The masks used on the tag are also a product of Tim Holtz.

Holy Crap!!! It has been a very long time since I was able to play with my paper. I had to sit and reaquaint (is that spelled correctly???) myself with my play area. NOT GOOD!!! I made this card for a neighborhood friends son. I used some scraps, ribbon and cardstock is from SU and the inks and patterned paper are from CTMH. I used some Tim Holtz products - grungeboard (stars) and stain. I also made a bookmark/tag, but forgot to take a picture, I will have to ask friend if I can quick take a picture. :) Well, here's hoping I get more play time in June. As always, TFL!!!

Gift Tag and Picture Book

I was feeling a bit down, heard some bad news, so I thought I would try to lift my spirits by creating something, this is what I came up with, I sat for a long time, nothing seemed to materialize in my head, my mind kept wandering, as soon as I decided to pack up and quit, I started to put things together. The tag uses some of Tim Holtz grungeboard (how fun is this stuff), tag, mask and stickles. The brads are from CTMH Filigree Charms (z1269). The book is made from cardboard, an old skirt I found at an antique shop (which I have an issue with to be honest, because I am pretty sure I wore one of those same skirts in high school....) along with the plastic letters, I think those were used for signs, I thought they were pretty cool, a whole box of about 100 for only a $1. :) I used CTMH Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint (z1039) mixed with cranberry reinker and CTMH Memory Protectors Flip Flaps (z4114), just stuck them together and adhered to book. Altered Frame

I made this as well last night... I had the urge to alter something, so I went to my "things-to-altered-cabinet" and found this wood frame. Flowers are made from paper and material, papers I have no idea where or when I purchased (since I cleaned and rearranged my playroom, I found lots of items like this...), cardboard, pink sparkles, and funky buttons. Used distress inks, painted the frame and ballet dress with CTMH Create-a-Shade Pearl Paint (z1039) Should I keep this or gift it???? hmmmmmmm???

Denim Floral Card

Put this together last night, it actually is a mistake, but I like how the mistake turned out. Product used CTMH Goldrush cardstock and ink, You Rock Level 2, Cherished Flourishes Stamp Set, Filigreee Charms (all CTMH) along with cardboard, denim strips and a Walmart shimmery ribbon. Hope you like. TFL

Can you see the mistake?? I wanted the flourish stamps to be clear embossed, but I poured white instead, not all of it took, but I like the "worn" look about it.

I had such fun putting this cube together. So frilly and femine, just like my friends beautiful girls. Papers I found in an old stash I found when I re-arranged my playroom, do not even remember where I purchased it or when. (ooops) The paper flowers are SO fun to make, I love making them, I have so many now I don't know what to do with them I used CTMH Simple Alphabets - Dimensional Elements (z1047) and on the top I used a Framed-In Overlays (z1211) the My Creations Cube was very easy to decorate, comes flat, so you assemble after all is decorated. (z1152)

I have been sick since Thursday and today was the first day I actually got out of bed and dressed. Imagine, the first thing I wanted to do was go "play", well play I did, I was inspired by Donna's blog and some of her artwork (AMAZING!!!) flowers were SUPER easy, and I just love the cardboard. I used CTMH Felicity Collection Papers, Twilight Ink, Autumn Terracota Ink, March SOTM, Topcoats and Connections Rhinestone Frames. Cardboard, buttons and material for flowers not CTMH. I used tissue paper, newspaper, pages from an old book and a swatch of material (blue card-bottom flower). I REALLY like these. TFL!!!

Cards made at my February monthly Club

We used the shaving cream technique to make our background paper. How fun is this, my son got into it as well, his papers are at the bottom. We used punches to make the flowers, cut everyother scallop, pinched to create depth and placed them together with a brad. The background paper used depended on how your paper turned out. I ended up with a purply-pink and a rusty blue.

this card was from the CTMH WISHES book, made a few tweaks, but basically it is exactly as in the book. I like it, not often you get a ST. Patrick's Day card, very easy.

I love this look, these were made for my "cawfee tawk" friends. It was a blast putting them together, I used scraps from CTMH Vinatge Travel and Notebook papers. Roses were very easy to make, felt, sheer material cut into 1 inch strips and Fab-ri-tac Glue. 4x4 coasters. TFL!

Tea Cups

I had some time on my hands so I made some tea cups for the staff at my daughters grade school. I placed 2 packets of tea inside and delivered them in the basket. It was a very cold day, so the tea was welcomed. I snagged the idea from a local paper make and take project, I added a bit more and made the cups bigger, but thanks for the idea Legacy! SUPER easy by the way. Hope you like!

Cupcakes and Valentines

Finally!!! I was able to get to the playroom and create something...whew!!! I feel so much better. Seriously, it really relaxes and calms and centers me. AAAAHHHH!!

Personal Jewelry made 1.07.10

I was very cold yesterday, so I tried to stay as close to the pellet burner as possible. I wanted to DO something so I decide to make some jewelry for myself. My daughter Emily received beads and stuff for Christmas and I of course was very excited. So I found my old beads, purchase just a few new ones and went to town. I am pleased with the results. Most purchases were made at the local Hobby Lobby. LOVE THAT STORE!!!! A little piece of heaven....aaaah. :)

These were SUPER easy, just added the pendant to chain and earring hook .

This one I like a lot, I love the silverish beads. Necklace is about 12 inches. Not a big fan of chokers, mainly because of my huge fat filled neck, looks horrible, but if it hangs a bit lower, not so bad. Even made a bracelet. I saw these beads and I knew I wanted to have a necklace from them. Thank you Hobby Lobby.

Same here with the leaves, circles and squares. Little putzy, but I wanted a longer necklace that I could where with any color. I like this one a lot as well.

First Post of 2010

Now that I have revamped my blog (hope you like) I now need to get inky myself. I have many ideas floating in that vast vessel of mine I call my brain. Close To My Heart has the new Spring Idea Book (click on link above to see it yourself) and there are many new products. I can't wait to use them. I have some projects planned this month, one being a Winter Adventures at the grade school. Every year I am asked and every year I panic. BUT not this year, I saw an awesome idea from Michelle Zindorf and I plan on adapting the project to grade school skill set. :) I am very excited. I also have my monthly club restarting at the end of the month. We took December off, looking forward to seeing "my ladies" again. I want to think I will get to some playing this weekend, but alas, we must change our Christmas House back. I have enlisted the entire family this weekend, so maybe we can get it done in less time that it took to put it all up. 3 days to Christmas-vy our house, next year back to only setting out 1/2 or less of decorations. Or maybe not.....we shall see. I am off to sit in front of my fireplace for a cup of tea and watch the snow fall, it has been falling since early, early this morning, how much longer will it fall I haven't a clue, but I plan to enjoy it, tonight anyways.... First, I hope all had a very Merry Christmas, God Bless. Second, wow it's been a long time, Third where to begin....

I will start with the things I made today. I was inspired by Shelly Katzung at http://www.accentuate-n-ink.blogspot.com/ to make these fun washer pendants. I used CTMH papers, available Jan. 1st. Topstitch, Liquid Glass, Rub Ons and blue and Pink Sparkles. The beads were from the mega set of beads my daughter received for Christmas from my sister.

I haven't been able to play lately, but I did get some time last week. The tags are made from regular old brown lunch bags and my SU Top Note die cut. The small tag is the "accident" from cutting the bag folded. The Mary and Baby is a 3x3 card, I love this image, CTMH No Greater Love stamp set. The Lion and Lamb is my favorite too from SU, I thought grey and plum was a nice change for Christmas, plus I had the grey ribbon I wanted to use.

October 30th, Monthly CTMH Club Project

I have an AWESOME group of ladies in my CTMH monthly club. They put up with my projects, some, like this one, have been a bit tedious, and I hope they continue to put up with it. :) This was our October project. All paper products, ink and stamps are CTMH, paper is the Grace Level 2 Paper Packet, the ribbon was purchased at Michaels for $1 a spool, the green matched ever so well, therefore I HAD to purchase it. The tea light vase was also a $.79 purchase at Michaels. We made a CD/candy tin, magnets (made from the flat glass pebbles, also a Michaels purchase - $.99 for a large bag), tea light vase and a Post-It holder folder. Inside holds a post-it note, a pen, and has a pocket to hold said notes. Thanks ladies for making creating projects such a blast!!!!

I came up with this card this morning, my plan was to make a baby card, then I found these scraps and some leaves I made a few days ago (stamped using rolling technique and embossed with clear powder) and due to my self diagnosed adult add, I made this instead. Yellow Gel - Lemon Martini Card - made for my friend Meg.

Last week I had a grand time with a very old friend, well she is old, but she is also a friend for a long, long time, anywho, we went on errands, coffee, Target, the Dollar Store (everything is a dollar there ya know) and got gas for her car. It was a grand day. Well....I had seen the gel card tutorial from Teresa Black and new I HAD to make one, so I looked and looked for clear hair gel. Target had blue and green, the Dollar Store (everything is a dollar there ya know) had yellow, blue and green, I was getting frustrated because I had it in my mind I HAD to try this technique NOW. Then I saw it, a very large bottle of clear hand gel, oooh could this work I asked myself, so I purchased it, it was a dollar. Then I got to thinking, what kind of martini could I make with yellow, blue or green gel. I ask my old friend, she was very confused, but went along with me and said "Hey if you want to make a martini out of yellow hair gel, you go for it girl" or something like that, so I bought the yellow hair gel, it was a dollar. I made this card and plan to give it to her because I know she was thinking that I had finally gone off the deep end, but being the great friend that she is, she let me have my moment. She will be impressed (or at least fake it), because I am sure she has no idea it was for a card. These are quite fun, I plan to make more, maybe with snowmen or snowflakes or ornaments....

I used all CTMH products - Holiday Jingle Stamp Set, Creative Basics Jingle Paper and Jingle Level 2 Paper Packet, Tulip Cardstock, Juniper Ribbon, Juniper Ink and Clear Sparkles. The snowflake was a store purchase. I embossed the stamped image with Red embossing powder. TFL!!!

Here is the sketch for this week. I really struggled with the light pink strip on this sketch, I came up with two cards, I think I like the snow flake one the Happy Holidays one the best. Yup, that's the one I am going to submit for the challenge. These challenges are quite fun. TFL!!

I used all CTMH cardstock - Colonial White, tulip and New England Ivy, Holdiay Joy Stamp Set - both cards. SU Striped ribbon, 3 CTMH Connections Club Pearls, these funky irradescent flakes and CTMH Liquid Glass - first card. The second card (first one I made, didn't like, then tried something else), I used ribbon I found at Michaels, pearl brad from Oriental Trading and 3 sparkly snowflake buttons I purchased at a local craft store in the sewing area. The snowflake was cut using my Cricut.

I have to say, aren't these CUUUUUUUUTE. OMG!! I normally do not like most of what I do, why is that, I have no idea, I guess I see what I COULD HAVE done, instead of enjoying what I did do...I digress, I was looking for a quick little treat idea and a fellow CTMH consultant V.Wizniuk, by way of C.Gaskin had this idea on our CTMH
Artwork board. I LOVED the idea of little matchboxes, so I came up with my own little version and here you have it. Hope you like and maybe this can inspire you to do something spooky-fun this month. (pssst the mummy is my favorite...)

This is my version of the challenge this week. The Cricut "birthday blessings" were anything BUT, I think it took my as long if not longer to get the darn thing off of the tacky paper. I used CTMH papers, ink and brads, the ribbon is SU Ruby Red as is the red cs "birthday blessings" TFL!!

A few weeks ago I chaperoned my daughter's girl scout troop annual trip. On this trip we had the pleasure of meeting one of the leaders sisters. We found out recently she had a bike accident and required jaw surgery. So we thought we would send her some get well cards. I started out thinking I would fill this with chocolate, but half way through the project I realized how HORRIBLE it would be to have chocolate and NOT be able to eat due to jaw surgery. Then I thought filling it with teas and such. I was worried that maybe she did not like tea or wouldn't be able enjoy them either, so I thought we would fill the tin with the cards the girls made and send it all as one. I like how it turned out, need to fix some areas, but all-in-all I like the result. I hope her will and will be sending her this in the up coming week.

I had some time tonight, all items are Close To My Heart. The tree (Grown with Love) card and the Snowman (Snow Friends) were ideas I got from M.Zindorf. She has some amazing artwork and great tutorials. Thanks Michelle!!

Card 1 is CTMH September Stamp of the Month - Colors - cocoa, new england ivy, honey, barn red, indian corn blue and autumn terracotta.

Card 2 is the Grown with Love stamp and Twitterpated papers from the new fall CTMH catalog. Colors - sorbet, crystal blue and chocolate.

Card 3 is Snow Friends Stamp and Jingle Paper. Colors - twilight, creme brulee, indian corn blue and black. The "winter" was cut from Creme Brulee cs with my cricut.

Card 4 is Holiday Jingle and Feathery Flakes stamps and Jingle Creative Basics paper. Colors - tulip and juniper.
